Dark Spot Action Plan

One of the most common concerns I see in the spa room is dark spots, or hyperpigmentation, usually caused by sun damage.

Retinol is a commonly used exfoliant to combat dark spots, it encourages cell turnover, helping you shed your dark spots. Cosmeceutical quality products have the most concentrated ingredients you can buy without a prescription and professional treatments can accelerate the process significantly.

Here’s an easy step by step way to fade your dark spots combining home and in spa treatments:

At night:

Wash and dry face completely. A wet face will make retinol penetrate deeper, maybe deeper than you wantApply a pea size amount of Retinol .3 or Retinol .5 from Skinceuticals all over every 2-3 nights. Work your way up to every 1-2 nights to your comfort level.

Day:

Phloretin CF from Skinceuticals has skin tone evening ingredients as well as an antioxidant to help prevent future damage. Wear sunscreen always! Dark spots are trying to protect you from the sun and they are stubbornly persistent and will pop back up at the first opportunity.

In spa:

A series of three Retinol No Pain Resurfacing peels three months in a row is a good start for very dark spots. Maintain your progress by doing a Retinol No Pain Resurfacing peel quarterly as needed.

REMEMBER: If you wax your face, stop retinol at least 5-7 days before, even if you don’t use it in the area being waxed, it travels under the skin!

Here’s to you and your beautiful skin!
